Hi everyone last Saturday's  

                                         ALAS Aus Inc  Meeting 

                                      was held at East Leagues Club

                                       Cooparoo  at 12 pm - 3pm

                                     It  was a combination of both  the meeting &

                                       Linda's  80th Birthday, We had a lovely Cake,& 

                                         i got a very colourful  Flower arrangement

                                          & Trish Hamilton  made a gorgeous 80th Card,

                                         We all had a great time.

                                          We did hold the Meeting afterwards where we 

                             discussed the results of the latest Child Safety Inquiry,

                                       & when we can hope to find out what

                                       the Government plans to do 

                                  with the tragic situation we are now finding

                       thanks to the inexperienced Government people trying to  run

                            the Child Safety Department, Amanda Camm is trying her hardest 

                              But her hands are tied by  Lack of Proper FUNDING, 

                                  its disgusting that we have 

                          Children Sleeping on air Mattresses

                         in Child Safety Offices as reported by the Media.

                     The Liberal Parties IDEA 

                       that ADOPTION will Solve  this problem 

                        is so OUT DATED & No Longer Applies.

                       Of Course we will be Lobbying very Hard

                              Against Any Chance of Returning

                                 to the OLD DAYS of FORCED ADOPTIONS, 

                                  The Committee we formed last Year 

                             our keeping our Eyes & Ears Open.

                        As we go into July many Members Have paid their Membership fees

                         i will plan our Annual & General Meeting to be  held

Hi everyone today is the 17th Anniversary  of  our World first Hospital Forced Adoption  Apology, given to myself Marg, Janice , & Lorraine, by Professor Ian Jones on behalf of The Royal Brisbane & Women',s Hospital, we  publically  Celebrated it on 8,9,10th of June with Channel 7 news doing the television coverage, We are going to have our meeting  next Tuesday the 26  May at the Maple Lane Cafe at Taigum shopping centre, starting at 12 pm. where we can have   a  bite to eat & a  drink.& catch up with one another. more information please phone trish 0417077159

 Hello to all the ALAS Members , & people reading our Blog would you believe it its already 27 th of February , 2026,  in this 

The International   Chinese  Year of the Fire Horse, 

so far the years start has been interesting & positive for so many people, some would no   that 

 On the 18th February 2026 most of the Adoption Committee attended a round table conference on 

Adoption we all got to meet the Minister Amanda Camm & her team & many other people with interests 

in the future of Adoption, everyone  in the room learnt the experiences from the Forced Adoption era, 

many peoples eyes were wide opened to some of the  Facts not often spoken about. it was good use of 

the  morning very well spent, a lot of good ideas were well discussed around the room, 

hopefully we will attend more of these  type of Meetings. We all need to stay very active in helping 

Children find forever loving homes.

 

    So much has happened in the last few months, so here goes 

We celebrated the 13 th Anniversary of the Queensland Governments Forced Adoption Apology, even though it was a 9.30 start at the Memorial it was still an absolutely Horrendously hot day, we left early to go on down to The Normanby Hotel where it was cooler, it was a really good  atmosphere, the speakers were well received by everyone, & Kerri's music was once again lovely to listen to over all it was a good day.

  On  Saturday   the 6th of December we held our Christmas Lunch at the Four Mile Creek, we  enjoyed the day, exchanging Cards , Secret Santa, pulling Christmas Crackers & wearing those silly Hats & reading those jokes, all while wearing  bright   Christmas  clothes with  happy smiling  faces, the food was good  i loved my Roast Turkey  & vegies with a delicious Christmas Pudding ice cream & custard. it was lovely to stay until late in the afternoon  sitting around talking & catching up with one another.  

I hope you all enjoyed a Happy Christmas, with plenty of fun things to do ,i hope some got some good

 Family time   & are having a great 2026 so far.

                                                   Saturday the 23 rd August 

                                               We will be our next  meeting at

                                                     East Leagues   Club

                                                     Main St,   Coorparoo.

                                               at 12 pm .start until about 3pm

                                               At this meeting we need to pay 

                                              our membership  fees which are still only $20.00.

                                               There have been many changes happening 

                                               around adoption  committees, 

                                          We are reforming under a different name, 

                                             but  with similar  views  & values.

                                             & a few New Names & Faces 

                                          with a lot of positive ideas worthy of a try.

                                          We are hoping to  be able to lobby the

                                   Government to revisit &  amend some of the 

                                             still outdated rules & regulations.

                                     We are still lobbying to have an inquiry 

                            into the  Side Effects of  STILBEOSTROL,

                               & if it is the cause of all our CANCERS, 

                                  that so many of us have had 

                                 or those who have passed away.

                                Also it will give us a chance to talk about the 

                               Mothers retreat, held on Bribie Island, which was  

                              a  great  way to meet other mothers 

                             who had been through  a similar experience.

                               Also can we discuss how to get more members?

                                 What we would we like to do for a  Christmas

                                get together & where to go?

                              Also should i take leaflets every where i go 

                                & leave them for people to take home.

                             should i go back to pinning them on 

                                every notice board i come across.

               regarding their Forced Adoption Practices Apology

          WHICH IS 

  Unacceptable DUE to the inclusion of this paragraph

Through listening to the people with lived experience 

we understand and recognise,

the profound and continuing harm of theses actions, 

including the deep loss ,trauma disempowerment,

and grief experienced by mothers, children, fathers, grandparents,

adoptive parents and siblings, families and their descendants. 

THE OFFENSIVE PART IS THE ADOPTIVE PARENTS they 

NEVER SUFFERED any of the ABUSIVE  BEHAVIOUR,

They never had their baby stolen from them 

at Birth, & FORCIBLY  Adopted Against their will.

The ADOPTIVE PARENTS GAINED

OUR MUCH LOVED & WANTED BABIES.

CAMPAINED for the FORCED ADOPTION APOLOGIES  on  the  GROUNDS of HOW WE WERE TREATED by ALL STAFF at the Hospitals, & Mother Baby Homes & the general public their behaviour directly affected 

WE MOTHERS & OUR BABIES WHO BECAME 

THE FORCED ADOPTION  ADOPTEES, both of us were directly affected.

 ADOPTIVE PARENTS, 

were not subjected to being tied to hospital beds during labour

or being left in the cold dark corridors alone & 

being told to shut up if they cried out in pain.

or having the big green sheet placed over their body 

so as to stop them  seeing their new born baby.

 Or having the baby raced out of the labour ward as soon as it was delivered,

 or having their breast bound up with elastic bandages.

none of them faced being placed in the Mental health Wards 

just for begging to be allowed to see their babies.

Adoptive Parents Benefitted from the 

SOCIAL WORKERS ILLEGAL ACTIONS  HOW THEY OBTAINED OUR MUCH LOVED & WANTED BABIES  WAS ILLEGAL.

We were BULLIED, by OVER ZEALOUS, Cold Callous

                                                 with representatives from all the groups,

                                                     to meet with the Liberal party members 

                                                     connected to Adoption issues

                                                    we may need to educate them about 

                                                 Forced Adoptions lifelong problems

                                              there are still a lot of issues that need to be 

                                             reformed  or new amendments to old laws.

                                                 if we can agree on any issues 

                                                     we might have with the 

                                                          past laws & regulations

                                                     we still need  the 

                                                        government to address,

                                                          now is the time to speak up.
